Well, I am finally getting a chance to update the blog a little bit. Hopefully over the next week I will post several updates and get caught up. This update is about Jamie and kindergarten. Jamie is doing well in kindergarten. He has made several new friends, loves his teachers and has started bringing books home to read. The video below contains pictures from several exciting events that were school related. The first set are pictures from the first day of school. Then you'll see pictures from his clown parade - a kindergarten tradition that takes place at the first home football game at the high school. Next are a couple of pictures in his ECS t-shirt and jean shorts that he got to wear on his first field trip. They went to the Zoo that day. Jamie got to ride with his new best friend, Parker, as I could not go that day. You will see one picture of him wear a patriotic hat for the March of the Presidents program that ECS does during election years. We video taped most of the program so there is only the one actual picture. Last you will see pictures of Jamie and his class dressed as Johnny Appleseed. Johnny Appleseed day took place today. They marched through chapel and then went outside for group shots. After the parents left they got to make applesauce, which Jamie thought was delicious. School definitely keeps me busy as I try to keep up with all the special events that take place every week but we are all loving ECS, especially his teachers. Enjoy watching the video!!

James, not Jamie
Not much exciting is happening in our household but that will soon change as Jamie starts kindergarten on Wednesday, August 13. I have bought all of his uniforms and have them washed and ready to go.
Jamie has made the decision to be called James not Jamie at kindergarten. We have been discussing this with him for the past 3 weeks trying to make sure he understands that all his school friends and teachers will call him James. He is sure that this is what he wants. He has informed us that at home and church people can call him either name but I have a feeling Jamie is on its way out and James will eventually be all that he is called. Jimmy and I are having trouble with remembering this. I'm sure there will be a lot of slip-ups before I can remember what to call him. He is growing up so fast!

Kitchen Disaster
I recently decided to start an Amish Friendship Bread starter so I could make some of the recipes I have that call for the starter. For 10 days I have been diligently stirring and adding the ingredients as necessary. Today was the the day to cook and I was ready (or so I thought). Let me start by saying that the starter is fine and the bread looks delicious but getting to this point was a little more work than I had planned. As I was getting the flour and sugar out of my pantry I bumped into the EVOO bottle (Extra Virgin Olive Oil). Of course, having my hands full, all I could do was watch as it tumbled onto the kitchen floor and shattered sending glass and oil all over my kitchen floor, walls, and anything else in its path. Now Jamie and Jordan pick this time to become bored with watching Dora and proceed into the kitchen as I am yelling "STOP". They both look at me like I am crazier than normal and luckily freeze. I explain what has happened and Jamie takes Jordan and leaves. I grab some shoes (flip-flops) and begin cleaning up the mess. Unknown to me a piece of glass has magically jumped into my flip-flop and before I know it I am sit on the floor removing glass from my foot. Eventually I get everything cleaned up and the bread made. I just didn't expect it to take all morning. Two lessons I have learned: 1) Glass items go in the back of the pantry, not the front and 2)Flip-flops should not be worn when cleaning up glass. Hopefully these are the only lessons I will learn today the hard way.

My First Attempt
As Jordan keeps asking me for pickles every few minutes (I am giving them to her), I will attempt my first post on our blog. I will use this to keep our family and friends current with all the exciting (and boring) things that go on in the Knight family home. Today has been overly exciting as we have not left the house. Of course stay-at-home days are necessary to catch up with the laundry, general cleaning and all the other tasks that get pushed to the side when running around like crazy. Jordan has a summer cold but it does not seem to bother her at all. Jamie has played with more toys than I can count. Recently my Mom and I tried to wash our cars. As you can see Jamie and Jordan had more fun playing in the mud that was made. (I hope the pictures made it). Well this is enough for my first attempt. Now to see how it went.
